Furthernoise is an online platform for the creation, promotion, criticism and archiving of innovative cross genre music and sound art for the information & interaction of the public and artists alike.

Furthernoise encourages new methodologies and practices in creating adventurous music and sound that is not bound by the constraints of historically experimental genres. We showcase artists work through critical reviews & features as well organising performances and events on the internet as well as public venues and galleries.

Furthernoise is a non profit organisation that was established in 1999 by Marc Garret and Ruth Catlow as the sister site to London based digital / net art organisation Furtherfield. All our activities are resourced by the passion, ideas, exploration and skills of the Furthernoise team and the contribution of our diverse international membership of artists and audience.

Our team of reviewers are all professional & semi professional practicioners in their fields and Furthernoise gratefully acknowledges the wealth of experience and knowledge that they provide to the content of the site.

Furthernoise is also the beneficiary of core funding to Furtherfield by the Arts Council of England.

email-Neil Jenkins - Technical Director for Projects, Artist | Programmer
Neil is an artist/programmer his responsibilities include calming everyone's nerves in the face of techno-terror and developing networked technology as a focus point for [live] creative discourse, production and events. Neil has had ongoing input in the development, design and programming of key Furtherfield and Furthernoise projects. He now also selects and reviews works featured on Furtherfield.

email-atty (Andy Forbes) - head gardener, Artist | Programmer
atty has been responsible for knocking the Furthernoise site into neat rows in the French ornamental style (well, actually putting everything into a database) so you can all find more easily what you are looking for at Furthernoise. Hopefully this will also mean Furthernoise will be able to increase the involvement of its guest reviewers as well as the number of issues and reviews Furthernoise produces in the future, and make the archive section more accessible. atty has long history of involvement with digital and networked art as founder of, as a member of the '' hell collective and organizer of open_digi events in South London.
